King Richard has gone to war. His brother, the evil Prince John, took over the reigns in his absence. With his aide, the Sheriff of Nottingham, he enjoys the stolen royal treasure and has imposed deadly taxes on the poor villagers. Robin Hood and his merry band of do-gooders take it upon themselves to protect the poor and save their country. With your help, together they will recover the royal treasure and secretly deliver the goods to those who need them most! Become the player who will be the richest rich man and benefactor at the end of the game. Help the poor villagers who are too oppressed by the evil Prince John and bring them the goods! It won't be easy, however, as everything that goes to the village is controlled by the Prince's henchman, the Sheriff of Nottingham. To get past him, you'll have to persuade the Sheriff to let you in... by any means necessary! The game is played in several rounds. In each round, one player takes the role of the Sheriff, while the other players play as either Robin Hood, Little John, Lady Quack, Lady Marian or Brother Tuck. A game round consists of 5 phases, which must be played in the order given: 1. 1. You can discard unwanted cards and draw new ones in the hope of getting the ideal set of goods to take to the market. 2. Loading Goods Place the Goods cards you want to take to the Village into your Merchant Bag. 3. Customs clearance At this stage, you tell the Sheriff what goods you are taking to the village. Of course, there's always the possibility of subterfuge and deception! 4. Checking the merchant's bags Now it's the sheriff's turn! As the Sheriff, you can decide which of the bags to check. If you catch someone in a lie, you collect additional taxes. However, be careful not to check the honest player, because he will collect money from you instead. 5. End of game round At the end of the round, the player currently playing as Sheriff passes the Sheriff piece to the player sitting to his left. That player becomes the new Sheriff. If all players have been sheriff 3 times (in a 3-player game) or sheriff 2 times (in a 4-5 player game), the game ends immediately!
